At readers request, I’ve been asked to write more about news affecting cord cutters in addition to all the “how-to” articles and guys. I’ll try to do this at least weekly and send it out in the newsletter. So if you are interested, be sure to subscribe.
FuboTV Launches 4K HDR Beta
Cord cutter favorite FuboTV has become the first live streaming service to offer 4K resolution with HDR (High Dynamic Range.) HDR is one of the most noticeable advances in video display since the onset of HD. It essentially brings real-world color to your television. Check out my guide “What is HDR” for more information.
Starting today, main broadcasts of Russia 2018 matches on FOX and FS1 are available in 4K HDR10 with fuboTV on all Chromecast and Fire TV devices that support the format. fuboTV will also launch 4K HDR10 on Roku and Apple TV in the coming weeks.
To view ultra-high definition and high dynamic range content, subscribers must have a 4K HDR-enabled television, HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 compatible cable and run the fuboTV app on a streaming device that supports the formats. Bandwidth speeds of 30Mbps-40Mbps or higher are recommended
Price Hikes Hit Some Streaming Services
In the past two weeks, both DirecTV Now and Sling TV have announced price increases for their services. Sling TV increased the cost of their Orange package to $25 per month, bringing it in line with the cost of their Blue package. Both packages together will remain $40 per month.
DirecTV now has also announced a price hike. On July 26 all packages will increase by $5 per month. This will make the price of the basic “Live a Little” package $40 per month while the “Gotta Have It” packages increases to $75 a month.

What I’m Currently Watching
I also hope to give readers some ideas of some fun stuff to watch every week. So this is what I’m checking out in my down time.
Glow Season 2 on Netflix – This show is great for fans of the 80’s. It’s a very well done 80’s period piece that’s loosly based on the actual 80’s ladies wrestling program “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.” It’s from creator Jenji Kohan, who has brought us great shows like “Weeds” and “Orange is the New Black.” It stars Alison Brie and Marc Maron. If you missed season 1, it’s a very fun and easy binge.
Luke Case Season 2 on Netflix – Being a huge comic nerd I usually won’t let a comic book adaptation go without watching. Luke Cage is gritty and is a fun ride for those that enjoy more street level super heroes like Daredevil. Netflix has done a great job building it’s Marvel universe and Luke Cage is one of it’s best. Luke Cage stars Mike Colter, and is available right now on Netflix.
The rest of my time has been spent watching World Cup Online.
