Recently I posted an article on all the benefits of Amazon Prime in addition to being a tool in the belt to watch TV without cable. Well, this Wednesday Amazon.com is giving us all another reason to check out Amazon Prime.
They are calling it “Prime Day”. Amazon is turning 20 years old this July 15th, so to celebrate Amazon will be offering more deals than you would see on Black Friday. However, this is only available to new and existing Amazon Prime Members.
If you have Amazon Prime already, then you are all set. On July 15th at midnight (Pacific Time, so 3am on the East Coast) you will have access to all the Prime Day deals. To be clear, if you’re living in California, you will be able to jump into the deal frenzy 1 minute after 11:59pm on Tuesday.
If you have wanted to check out what Amazon Prime is like, now is the time. Just sign up for their 30 day free trial and you will be eligible to participate in all the Prime Day deals 2 days from now.
Amazon has stated that there will be “thousands of Lightning Deals and seven popular Deals of the Day. In case you aren’t familiar with Amazon’s “Lightning Deals”, they are huge discount deals that are offered for either a limited time limited amount.
Amazon offers lightening style deals daily, but never before has it been thousands in one day. You can see the current deals Amazon has up to get a feel for what the deal format will be on Wednesday. In the past, I’ve seen deals as much as 60-80% off goods ranging from routers to garden hoses.
If this is going to be anything like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, make sure you stay on top the deals you want as they will go quick. In other words, get that index finger in shape as you will be F5 a lot to refresh your browser window.
Preparing for Prime Day
If you’re looking to really cash in on Prime Day. Here are some tips to prep so you aren’t held up trying to close on a time sensitive deal.
1. Get Your Prime Membership
I know I said this before, but sign up for the Prime 30 Day Free Trial. It’s free, so it doesn’t really make sense to wait and see if you like something until the deals come out. I’d hate to miss an amazing deal because I was signing up for a free trial to Prime while a limited quantity deal was bought out.
2. Log Out and then Log Back In
Amazon keeps you logged in for 2 weeks when you log in. I’d hate for that two weeks to be up when you’re trying to close on a half price Chromebook. Just to be safe, log out and log back in before Prime Day Starts.
3. Check your Payment Options
Make sure your Address and Credit card are up to date in your account settings. It could really slow you down if you had to update that information before closing out a purchase.
Subscribe for Updates
I’ll keep an eye out for any deals on cord cutting, or cool tech items in general and post an update. If you subscribe to Grounded Reason you’ll know as soon as I post.
