This winter’s cinematic phenomenon and seven-Academy Award-nominee, West Side Story, comes to Disney+ on Wednesday, March 2. Since its theatrical release in December, Steven Spielberg’s remake of the Broadway classic has been an audience and critical sensation, earning numerous awards and nominations and landing on many top 10 lists for 2021. In 1957 New York City, Tony and Maria find love, despite the hatred and rivalry between their communities and warring gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, in this tragic reimagining of the Romeo and Juliet story. How To Watch West Side Story

West Side Story is now available on the Disney+ streaming service. The subscription costs $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year. A subscription allows for unlimited downloads of content to up to 10 devices for viewing offline and the ability to stream on four different devices simultaneously. 

Disney+ is available on mobile devices (iOS and Androids); desktop computers; PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming consoles; Roku; Apple TV; smart TVs such as LG, Samsung, and Android TVs; and Chromebook, Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, and Amazon FireTV. About West Side Story

West Side Story has been nominated for 7 Academy Awards and 11 Critics’ Choice Awards and has already won three Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Actress, Musical or Comedy for Rachel Zegler (“Maria”) and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose (“Anita”). The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, with a new screenplay by award-winning playwright Tony Kushner. It stars Ansel Elgort (Tony), newcomer Rachel Zegler (Maria), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David Alvarez (Bernardo), Mike Faist (Riff), Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke), Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank), and Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino), with a special appearance by Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the 1961 musical, now as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works.

In addition to the film’s release, Disney+ also has the ABC one-hour special “Something’s Coming: West Side Story – A Special Edition of 20/20” now available to stream.
