If you yelled out “yabba dabba doo!” with your kids, would they know what you meant? Might you even get an “OK boomer”?!
Thankfully there is a streaming service called Boomerang dedicated to classic cartoons. There you can watch all the “Flintstones” your heart might desire, along with “Care Bears,” “Daffy Duck,” “Garfield,” “Jonny Quest,” and many others. The service boasts more than 5,000 cartoons on its site, including movies like “Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase” and “Casper’s First Christmas.”
You can browse about randomly, or you can use playlists that Boomerang has put together with cartoons based on various themes. For example, you might watch the “Best of Bugs Bunny,” the “Baddest Bad Guys,” or “Summertime.”
If you subscribe, you can watch any episode at any time. If you don’t, you can still watch a few episodes for free, including the entire “Saturday morning” playlist. However, you won’t find Boomerang on cable. Although it was a cable channel, now you can only access it with the streaming service.
How to Watch Boomerang
You can watch via the Boomerang website or use the Boomerang app on most Android and IOS devices. It can also be viewed on Kindle, Roku, 4th Gen, and 4k Apple TVs, and Amazon Fire Stick.

If you prefer to watch through Amazon Prime Video and its app, you can subscribe to Boomerang through Amazon Prime Video Channels. It also costs $4.99/month. However, bear in mind that you have to subscribe to Amazon Prime to sign up this way. Amazon Prime costs $119/year ($59/year for students) or $12.99/month ($6.49/month). Why Subscribe to Boomerang
At a certain point in time, every kid knew about Tom and Jerry. Every kid laughed at them.
Now, however, kids all watch different shows. All the pages and pages of options on all our streaming services can be great –but the downside is that everybody is laughing at different jokes. We have lost a bit of that shared culture of knowing the same characters.
Subscribing to Boomerang could very well give you that “Saturday morning” feeling of everybody watching the same cartoons and enjoying the same funny moments. Combined with that, choose your favorites from among the classics, weeding out any you don’t like. If you are a fan of the classics, Boomerang may just give you an animated best of both worlds.
