The new documentary series Jailhouse Redemption premieres on Thursday, May 12, on Discovery+. Sheriff Karl Leonard has served in law enforcement for over four decades in Chesterfield, VA, most recently as oversight of the county’s two jails. Seeing the impact of the nation’s opioid crisis firsthand, Leonard turned his energies to creating the Heroin Addiction Recovery Program (HARP), forging a path of recovery for the staggering 80% of inmates who entered his prisons as heroin addicts. These inmates were part of a deadly cycle, often repeatedly in and out of jail with time served but no treatment for their root problem. This new series documents the HARP program and its management alongside the day-to-day operations of the Chesterfield County Jail. Read on for how to watch Jailhouse Redemption.
