The fantastically weird and obsessively popular science fiction thriller Stranger Things returned to Netflix with season 4 on May 27, and broke the streaming giant’s records in one month (or 28 days) with 930.3 million hours viewed. This beats out all English language shows on Netflix, and everything except the Korean juggernaut Squid Game. On July 1, Netflix drops Season 4, Volume 2, which consists of two more episodes to complete the blockbuster season. What is in store for the teens now? The series, set in the early 1980s, follows a group of kids and teens whose small rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, is the site of secret paranormal and supernatural experiments, including on human test subjects. However, these experiments created a portal to the “Upside Down,” a dangerous alternate dimension having disastrous effects on the residents of Hawkins. Season 4 took fans on a roller coaster that truly embraced the shows roots in both horror and the 1980s. Now might be the perfect time to catch up if you haven’t already.
