The new black comedy film Do Revenge premieres on Friday, September 16, on Netflix. Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train, the plot of two semi-strangers agreeing to help take down each other’s tormentors is reset to the world of private high school and the dangerous vendettas of teenage girls. When popular It-girl Drea (Camila Mendes, Riverdale) is ruined by a boyfriend’s callous mistreatment, while he comes out looking clean as a whistle, she swears revenge. Enter Eleanor (Maya Hawke, Stranger Things), an unassuming new student trashed by a former classmate at her old school. A chance encounter hatches the plot for the two to team up in the ultimate double-bill of revenge.
The film’s dark plot is played up in stark contrast to its cotton-candy colors and uber posh setting, but the devil’s in the details and the twisted minds of the co-conspirators. The film has promise to be a deliciously ridiculous delight. And if you’re getting vibes of some Cruel Intentions teen melodrama from the trailer, keep an eye out for a cameo from the original Cruel star herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar. The cast also includes Rish Shah, Sophie Turner, and Austin Abrams, who is very good at being both adorable and sleezy at the same time. Read on to learn how to watch Do Revenge.
