Since arriving on Netflix on May 20, the action-adventure film RRR has been racking up views, and now that the buzz is out, you should probably get on that if you haven’t seen it yet. The film swiftly became the first Indian film to trend at #1 on Netflix’s Non-English Films category for three consecutive weeks, and its viewership has only continued to grow. RRR is the story of two revolutionaries, a warrior, Komaram Bheem (N. T. Rama Rao Jr.), and A. Rama Raju (Ram Charan), an ambitious officer initially loyal to the British Raj. It is set during the 1920s, in pre-independence India. It chronicles a fictional tale of two genuine revolutionaries, during an uncharted time in their lives and questions what would have happened if they had met.
RRR is Telugu cinema, also known as Tollywood, a segment of Indian cinema dedicated to producing motion pictures in the Telugu language. Like many of its related films in Indian cinema, it is a sprawling epic story (coming in just over 3 hours) but packs intertwining storylines, romance, bromance, kick-butt action sequences, and, yes, a few musical numbers.
