Conspiracy theories and mysteries…on the moon? Such is the case in the new sci-fi thriller Moonhaven, which premieres on Thursday, July 7, on AMC+. One hundred years in the future, life on Earth has become increasingly perilous, but at Moonhaven, a utopian colony on the moon, they may hold the key to preserving life. Pilot-turned-smuggler Bella Sway (Emma McDonald) is on a mission to help transport an envoy from the moon back to Earth with their discoveries when she becomes caught up in a dangerous conspiracy for control of the colony. She soon finds herself teaming up with local detectives, played by Dominic Monaghan and Kadeem Hardison, investigating a murder she is accused of committing and trying to uncover who is blocking the colony’s attempts at saving humanity on Earth.
The thriller comes from the mind of creator/showrunner Peter Ocko, who has worked on Lodge 49, Black Sails, the smash hit Elementary, and quirky shows like Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me. The extensive ensemble cast also includes Amara Karan, Ayelet Zurer, Joe Manganiello, and Yazzmin Newell. Moonhaven premieres with its first two episodes on Thursday, July 7.
