How To Watch Discovery Plus

Published 2021-01-28 By Dennis Restauro

discovery plus

Discovery+ launched on January 4, 2021. The new streaming service isn’t just what’s on the Discovery channel. If that was the case, you could just subscribe to a streaming service with Discovery Channel in its channel lineup.

Before I go into detail about the Discovery+ streaming service, let us cover the basics of this on-demand streaming service

How much is Discovery Plus? – Discovery+ costs $4.99 per month for an ad-supported plan and $6.99 per month for an ad-free experience. Both Plans offer a 7-day free trial.

What Does Discovery Plus Include? – Discovery+ includes original content you will only find on Discovery+ in addition to on-demand shows from several networks, including Discovery Channel, HGTV, TLC, History Channel, Lifetime, and more.

How Can I Watch Discovery Plus? – Discovery+ is available to watch on Android and iOS smart devices and your browser. However, you can also watch on your TV using a streaming device like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, and more.

Read on, and I cover these questions and others in more detail.

What Is Discovery+

Discovery+ is an on-demand subscription-based streaming service that offers on-demand content from several TV networks and exclusive original shows. Discover+ offers content from Discovery Inc. owned networks while partnering with A&E Networks, the BBC’s Natural History collection, Group Nine, and more. Discovery+ service offers 55,000 episodes of shows from the following networks:

  • Discovery Channel
  • A&E
  • Lifetime
  • History Channel
  • Food Network
  • HGTV
  • TLC
  • Animal Planet
  • Travel Channel
  • Investigation Discovery
  • Oprah Winfrey Network
  • Science Channel
  • Discovery Family
  • Motor Trend
  • Cooking Channel
  • DIY Network
  • Great American Country
  • American Heroes Channel
  • Destination America
  • Discovery Life

Discover+ will air content from A&E owned networks like The First 48, Bring It, Dance Moms, Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars, Ancient Aliens, Storage Wars, 60 Days In, Intervention, and Ghost Hunters. Discovery’s partnership with BBC will bring shows like The Mating Game, Planet Earth, and Blue Planet to Discovery+.

The Discovery+ streaming service will also feature original content from Chip and Joanna Gaines; Will Packer and Kevin Hart; Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis; Duff Goldman; Amy Schumer; Carla Hall; David Schwimmer; Sir David Attenborough; Ben Napier; Sebastian Maniscalco; Joe Kenda; Mike Rowe and more.

How Much Is Discovery+

Discovery+ (Pronounced “Discovery Plus”) costs subscribers $4.99 per month for an ad-supported plan. However, subscribers can opt for an ad-free experience for $6.99 per month.

Discovery+ Vs. Discovery Go

Don’t confuse Discovery+ with TV Everywhere apps like Discovery Go and the HGTV app. Discovery+ only carries shows on-demand, not live. Furthermore, not all shows on live networks like HGTV, Discovery, A&E, and others will be on Discovery+. If you are interested in watching those networks live, you should check out our page to stream various TV channels. Discovery+ also carries original programming you won’t find anywhere else.

How To Watch Discovery+ on Your TV

The Discovery+ app works on the following devices.

  • Android and iOS
  • Android
  • Amazon Fire TV, Cube, and Stick
  • Apple TV
  • Roku
  • Samsung Smart TVs – 2017 and newer
  • Safari, Chrome, and Firefox Browsers
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S

If you want to watch Discovery+ on your television, you will need a streaming device like a Roku, Apple TV, or Fire TV. Personally, I recommend the Roku Streaming Stick. To watch Discovery+ on your TV with a Roku or other streaming devices, follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for Discovery+
  2. Download the Discovery+ app from the Channel Store on your device.
  3. Open the Discovery+ app and sign in with the Discovery+ username and password you signed up with
  4. start watching Discovery+

It’s really that easy.
