The new docuseries Dancing Queens follows six women preparing to face off against each other in a series of ballroom competitions around the United States. Colette Marotto, Donie Burch, Gaëlle Benchetrit, Leonie Biggs, Pooja Mehta, and Sabrina Strasser are all part of the world of Pro-Am dance competiations, which combine amateur dancers competing with professional partners. These skilled amateur dancers invest thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours into this all-consuming passion in order to gain respect and recognition on the circut. Hair, makeup, outfits, travel, and expenses thier professional partners add up for these stat-at-home moms, busness owners, and executives, as well as lengthy time away from their families. The series reveals the complexity of stiff competition, sabatoge, and behind the scenes drama on the other side of the dancers’ cool composure on the ballroom floor.
