The DC origin story follows Bruce Wayne’s sometimes stoic, sometimes swarthy butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), through his tough and gritty start. As a former British SAS soldier, Pennyworth forms a security company in 1960s London, where he eventually goes to work for young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge). Before Gotham and the mayhem, madness, and, honestly, sometimes cheesy parade of comic book characters in the same-titled series (also by Bruno), Pennyworth is more grounded in realism. It tells the story of an honorable but scrappy young man making his way in a dangerous, dark, and often violent world. The series, created by Bruno Heller, originally aired on EPIX before making the move this season to Max. Read on to learn how to watch Pennyworth without cable.
