Vagrant Queen is based on a comic book series written by Magdalene Visaggio with artist Jason Smith. The story follows the adventures of Elida, a queen raised as an outlaw and scavenger who finds herself back on the front lines of her broken kingdom. Along with a ruffian deadbeat and brilliant mechanic, they will face the deadly commander who unseated her family and engage in a fight to save their civilization. With a blend of quirky, smart-mouth humor, and high-kicking action, early trailers bring to mind a combination of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Guardians of the Galaxy that is sure to be entertaining.

About Vagrant Queen
As mentioned, early trailers and information hint to a lot of the same balance of comedy and action that make cult favorites just that. Throw in quirky but quality style in production design and special effects, and they might have a hit if the story is good. So far, it sounds intriguing, the right mix of legacy and grit. Elida (Adriyan Rae, Light as a Feather), once a child queen, has long been on the run, staying under the radar of Commander Lazaro (Paul du Toit). Lazaro is the man responsible for the death of her mother and the fall of her kingdom and continues his obsessive hunt for Elida. However, new information is uncovered, leading Elida back into her home region, where she’ll find that there are those still loyal to her. The series also stars Tim Rozon (Schitt’s Creek) and Alex McGregor (Of Kings and Prophets) as Elida’s team of former frenemy Isaac and perky mechanic Amae. Teasers tout such misadventures as “cannibalistic aliens, dangerous planets, shootouts, karaoke, and parking tickets.” What’s not to love? Vagrant Queen starts on SyFy on March 27.
