About Dune
Based on the 1965 epic novel by Frank Herbert, Dune (or Dune: Part One) is to be the first of a two-part adaptation. David Lynch also did a mega film version in 1984 that was a critical failure but has become one of the most beloved cult science fiction films. The new version is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) with a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve, and Eric Roth. The story takes audiences into the far future of humanity, where the Atreides family are thrust into a war over the desert planet Arrakis. Epic battles, emotional crises, and giant sandworms are just the beginning. The film’s large ensemble cast is a bevy of big names, including Timothée Chalamet as the hero Paul Atreides, as well as Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
Bonus Dune Content and 1984 Film Version
In addition to the new film, Max has extended content and behind-the-scenes featurettes. These include mini specials on the various families in the sprawling epic, in case you haven’t read the book or seen the previous incarnation. Max also has the original 1984 David Lynch version, which stars Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides.
