With many seeing The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, a prequel to the original four Hunger Games films (All 5 films adapted from 4 Suzanne Collins novels), fans want to rewatch those first Hunger Games movies. The good news is they are all currently available on the Peacock streaming service, which costs $5.99 per month, but you can cancel at any time. That will let you watch The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 for just $5.99.

How To Watch On Peacock

To watch the first four Hunger Games films, you need to subscribe to Peacocks Premium Plan for $5.99 per month. After signing up this will also provide access to stream:

  • The Hunger Games
  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

To watch the movie, download the Peacock app to a supported device. Peacock supports iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, Xbox One S and Xbox One X, Android devices, Android TV, Chromecast, and Chromecast built-in. Once downloaded, open the app and search for “Hunger Games” and select the movie you want to watch. You can learn more in our review of Peacock.

Other Ways to Watch The Hunger Games Movies

Peacock isn’t the only way to watch all four films. You can watch for free right now using a streaming service that has a free trial to SyFy (as the films are currently airing on the network), or you can rent or purchase a digital copy from a few services.

Watch The Hunger Games Movies for Free

All 4 films are also currently airing on SyFy Network, so any streaming service with SyFy also has the films available on-demand. Those services are Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, fubo, DIRECTV STREAM, and YouTube TV. DIRECTV STREAM, fubo, and YouTube TV all provide a free trial, so you can watch all four movies for free using one of those services if you cancel before the free trial is up. However, if you neglect to cancel, you will be charged the rate of the service each month until you cancel. The steps are easy. Here is an example on how to watch these films for free right now

  1. Sign up for a 5-day free trial to DIRECTV STREAM’s entertainment plan (you don’t need the sports pack)
  2. Download the DIRECTV app to Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV or other supported device.
  3. Open the DIRECTV app and sign in with the credentials you used in step 1
  4. Once signed in, use the Search tab to search for “Hunger Games.”
  5. Watch each film and cancel the service within 5 days of starting the trial so you aren’t changed the $79.99 for the first month of service
  6. All four films should be available. If they aren’t, then the films have left SyFy. However, we used a free trial so you can cancel at no expense.

Purchase a Digital Copy of Each Film

Yet another way you can watch is by purchasing a digital copy of each film. Remember that digital purchases provide “unlimited on-demand viewing over an indefinite period of time.” While extremely rare, it’s possible that a licensing change occurs where the digital copy is no longer available. I’ve linked places to purchase the films below.

The Hunger Games – Available to rent or purchase from Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Available to rent or purchase from Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 – Available to rent or purchase from Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – Available to rent or purchase from Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is still in theatres. However, it’s currently available for digital preorder from Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play

What Is The Hunger Games About

It’s hard to imagine anyone hasn’t been inundated with this popular culture phenomenon, but in case you need a catch-up, here we go. The Hunger Games is a dystopian young adult series based on the book trilogy by Suzanne Collins. In this fictional future post-apocalyptic world, North America has become the nation of Panem, in which 12 ever-poorer districts under its rule surround a wealthy Capitol city. To pay for a past rebellion, an annual pageant called the Hunger Games is held in which the poorer districts must send two of their teen children into a televised arena for an ultimate life-or-death competition. The single victor wins rewards for their home district. The story’s protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, from District 12, finds herself in the arena. Still, things go awry for this year’s competition, and she soon becomes part of a much larger revolution in Panem, led by a tyrannical President, Coriolanus Snow. Although the books are a true trilogy, the third book was divided into two movies, making it a four-film series when adapted to film.

The Latest Film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, was released in Theatres on November 17th, 2023. It is also based on a book of the same name by the original author of The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins. This film is a prequel to the first 4 films about a younger Coriolanus Snow at Panem Academy during just the 10th year of the games. So if you are looking to watch the in-universe order of the Hunger Games, you would want to watch in this order:

  • The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023)
  • The Hunger Games (2012)
  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014)
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (20115)
