If you live in Houston and want to watch Rockets or Astros games, then you are going to need the AT&T SportsNet Southwest channel (formerly Root Sports Southwest). However, don’t think you need an overpriced cable TV subscription. You can stream AT&T SportsNet Southwest live with fuboTV.
fuboTV Carries AT&T SportsNet Southwest
fuboTV offers subscribers local and cable TV channels just as if you subscribed to a cable TV package. Currently, they are the only live streaming service that offers AT&T SportsNet Southwest as part of their channel lineup. You can watch the AT&T SportsNet Southwest through fuboTV online or on your TV using a supported streaming device like a Roku or Fire TV Stick.
Like cable, AT&T SportsNet Southwest is only available through fuboTV if you live in the Houston TV market. I recommend checking their website to find the channels they offer in your area using this link.
FuboTV offers a One Week Free Trial, but there is no contract so you can cancel any time. If you cancel during your free trial, you will not be charged at all. Here are some features included with your subscription to fuboTV:
- live local CBS, FOX, and NBC broadcast in many parts of the country
- a ton of channels you usually find on cable like HGTV, History, FS1, and more
- a cloud DVR for recording TV shows
- stream to 2 devices at once (can upgrade to more)
While the price of fuboTV currently starts at $54.99, that price increases to $59.99 on August 1st. For more information on this streaming service, see our guide to fuboTV.
AT&T TV Now Carries AT&T SportsNet Southwest
AT&T’s live streaming service is another way to watch Fox Sports Southwest network live. However, you have to subscribe to their “Max” package for $80 per month. The service also offers a 1-week free trial and doesn’t force you into a contract so you can cancel any time. The service also includes a cloud DVR service and allows you to stream to two devices simultaneously, with an option to add a 3rd for $5 additional per month.
AT&T TV NOW is supported on the following devices:
- 4th Gen Apple TV
- Google Chromecast, 2nd gen and higher
- Amazon Fire TV
- Fire TV Stick
- iOS devices
- Chrome and Safari browsers
See our review of AT&T TV Now for more details on this streaming service.
What If You Live Outside the Houston TV Market
If you live outside AT&T SportsNet Southwest’s broadcast area, it won’t be in your channel lineup. This is true of whether you use streaming services or subscribe to cable TV. However, there is still a way for you to watch the Astros and Rockets. Check out our guide to working around sports TV blackouts for more details.
