How To Watch Kevin Can F Himself

Kevin Can F Himself

The dark comedy Kevin Can F**k Himself returns for season 2 on AMC on Monday, August 22. The series stars Schitt’s Creek‘s Annie Murphy as Allison, a wife holding it all together while dealing with her immature husband, Kevin (Eric Peterson). While the show sounds like a sitcom, it’s really a show that deconstructs all the tropes of a sitcom. While Allison is with her husband, the show follows a typical multi-camera sitcom formula, complete with corny jokes and even a laugh track. However, when Allison is alone, the lighting darkens and switches to a single camera, lending gravity to the scenes where we learn about the darkness that lurks inside the mind of Allison. It’s an intriguing show that may even bury the sitcom forever.

Season one focuses on Allison’s attempts to get rid of Kevin, with the reluctant help of her neighbor and reluctant friend Patti (Mary Hollis Inboden). Meanwhile, she also starts up a friendship (or more) with her high school sweetheart Sam (Raymond Lee). Things don’t go so well on either front, and end up surprisingly dark and complicated. Read on for more on how to catch up on season 1 and watch season 2 when it premieres on Monday.
