The latest novel adaptation in the Nancy Drew universe, the new series Tom Swift premieres on Tuesday, May 31, at 9:00 p.m. ET, on The CW. Based on the books of the same name, which focused on the value of science, invention, and technology, the series updates Tom as a brilliant, wealthy, and charming inventor. As introduced in the CW’s Nancy Drew series, the modern character of Tom Swift (Tian Richards) is also Black and queer, centering on a much different population than the boys’ adventure books of the previous century did.
