With the 2020 CMT Music Awards airing this Wednesday, October 21st, at 8 pm, I wanted to update all the ways you can watch CMT without subscribing to cable or satellite TV. You merely need a streaming service that carries Country Music Television (CMT). These streaming services have the same CMT channel that airs on cable, so you can watch events like the CMT Music Awards live as it airs.
Streaming Services with CMT
Here are all the ways you stream CMT online.
Philo is The Best Way To Watch Live CMT
Philo is the top option for watching CMT Live online. Philo provides CMT and 60+ other channels for $20/month. You can check out a free trial and see if the service will meet your needs. Philo also includes a cloud DVR for you to record shows to watch later.
Sign Up For A Free Trial To Philo
Philo supports the Apple iPhone and iPad (running iOS 9 or newer), Android phones and tablets (running 5.0 or newer), Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast.
With online access to CMT streaming, you will never miss shows like “CMT Crossroads,” “Party Down South,” “Racing Wives,” or the “CMT Hot 20 Countdown“.
You can use your Philo credentials to sign in and watch through the CMT app. See our review of Philo for more details and information on all the channels available on Philo.
CMT on FuboTV
FuboTV is an excellent place to go for sports, but it offers many other channels, including CMT. Over 90 channels are offered in its basic package for $64.99/month (after 7-day free trial). The FuboTV app is available on major platforms, including AppleTV, AndroidTV, Roku, and Amazon FireTV. You can sign up for a 1-week free trial or check out our review of FuboTV for more details.
CMT on Sling TV
CMT is not in Sling’s base packages. However, you can get CMT through the Orange or the Blue package for $5 as part of its “Comedy Extra” add-on package. This would bring the total amount to $35/month.
Sling TV provides a live stream of CMT so you can watch what would be airing on CMT, just as if you had cable. A Cloud DVR program is included.
Sling TV is available on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and more, so it’s not a problem to enjoy it on a TV, tablet, computer, or other smart devices. There are more channels than I’ve mentioned available on Sling TV than what I’ve discussed here. To find out more about Sling TV offers and more information about Sling TV device compatibility, check out this detailed review of Sling TV or check out this free trial.
Watch CMT on Vidgo
Vidgo is a newer Streaming service that offers fairly competitive pricing over other Live streaming services. The only catch is they do not currently offer a DVR. Their service offers CMT as a part of their 60+ channel Core package. The Core Plan costs $55 per month.
There is no contract with Vidgo, and you can cancel any time. They do offer a 3-day free trial, which you can cancel within the first three days at no charge. Vidgo is supported on available on Android, iOS, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV. You can also stream the service on up to 3 devices at the same time. We have the full details in our guide to Vidgo’s live streaming service.
CMT Streaming on AT&T TV Now
AT&T’s DirecTV Now service is one way you can watch CMT. However, it is much more expensive than the other services above. It is offered as part of their “Max” package. At $80 per month, you get more than 40 channels, while at the highest level of $135 a month, you get over 125. You can check out everything this service offers by reading our AT&T TV Now review.
YouTube TV has Added CMT
On June 30th, 2020, Youtube added CMT along with several other channels to their lineup. They also suddenly raised their prices to $65 per month. YouTubeTV does include a DVR with limitless storage space for recording your shows. Plus, you can watch your library of recorded shows anywhere! The YouTube TV channel lineup includes CMT for $64.99 a month. Youtube TV supports Roku, Android, iOS, and Chromecasts (along with Chromecast-compatible TVs.) See our review of YouTube TV to learn more.
Is There A CMT Channel Subscription
You can’t subscribe directly to CMT. However, some of the streaming services in this article provides access to the CMT app. This app works on streaming devices like Amazon Fire TV, iOS, Roku, Android, and more. Through the app, you can watch CMT live and view some CMT on-demand. Your login credentials from the following streaming services will allow you to log in to the CMT app:
Subscription | Cost |
---|---|
Philo | $20/mo |
Vidgo | $45/mo |
fuboTV | $64.99/mo |
YouTube TV | $64.99/mo |
Using The CMT App on Roku and Other Devices
Once you subscribe to one of the services above, you can watch by downloading the CMT app to your supported device. When asked for a TV provider, use your login credentials from one of the streaming services above. Below are the steps to unlock CMT on Roku. Other streaming devices and channels have a very similar process.
- Go to the channel store on your device.
- Search for the CMT app, and add it to your device
- Open the app, select “Login” from the menu.
- Your Roku device will provide an activation code and a URL.
- Using a web browser, go to the URL.
- You will then be asked for the credentials of the TV provider you use for CMT. I use for Philo.
- Your TV screen will refresh, and you will have access to the content CMT provides through the CMT app.
