The Tony Awards aired Sunday, June 11, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, with a special Act One, a special pre-show presentation with additional awards not part of the prime-time broadcast, on PlutoTV and hosted by Julianne Hough and Skylar Astin.
However, if you missed the live broadcast on Sunday, you can still watch the Tony Awards and the Act One special with this 1- week Free Trial to Paramount+, which provides access to CBS live and on-demand!
The Tony Awards recognize achievements in theatre, specifically Broadway, and feature performances from nominated shows, as well as tributes to past performers and icons. The primetime broadcast will be hosted by Oscar winner and former Tony nominee Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), and unlike most years, will be an unscripted event due to the ongoing Writer’s Guild of America writer’s strike. Read on to learn more about watching The Tony Awards without cable.
- TV Network: The Tony Awards are on CBS, with The Tony Awards: Act One on PlutoTV
- Best Way to Watch: Paramount+ (Free Trial) provides access to CBS so you can watch the live event and on demand.
Stream The Tony Awards
The easiest way to watch all of The Tony Awards is Paramount+, as the streaming service provides a live feed of your local CBS station, as well as has exclusive access to The Tony Awards: Act One.
Paramount+ offers a 7-day free trial so that you can try the service with no risk. However, there are two plan options to choose from:
Paramount+ Premium: Provides live streaming access to your local CBS station so you can watch The Tony Awards when it airs. This plan also provides on-demand ad-free access to Paramount+ content. After the 7-day free trial, the service price starts at $11.99. Paramount+ also has a $5.99 per month tier, but that plan doesn’t include live CBS.
Paramount+ is available on Roku Players, Apple TV, Xbox, Chromecast, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick. See our review of Paramount+ for more information on this streaming service.
Watch The Tony Awards Free
There are two free methods to watch new episodes of The Tony Awards if you don’t have cable. If you live close enough to a CBS broadcast tower, you can use a TV antenna, but this option doesn’t provide a way to watch on-demand. An OTA DVR offers a way to record shows from a TV antenna, but that is an added expense.
Alternatively, you can take advantage of the free trials available with the following streaming services that carry a live stream of CBS:
- Paramount+ (7-day free trial)
- YouTube TV (free trial)
We cover these services in more detail throughout this article.
